Emily Dahm represented a 21-year-old Marine who had met a young woman online whom he believed was 18 years old. Unbeknownst to him, she was 17 and still a few months shy of her 18th birthday. The two exchanged numerous messages, including suggestive photographs and videos. After the young woman’s mother discovered her phone and her messages with Emily’s client and others, Emily’s client was charged with sending lewd material to a minor, among other charges.

As a result of Emily’s thorough cross-examination of the young woman, the government dismissed all of the charges against Emily’s client midway through the trial. He had been facing a potential sentence of one year in county jail.
